The Wimbledon Championships singles championship is an annual tournament that is part of Wimbledon. The Wimbledon Women’s Winner’s top player is Martina Navratilova (1978-79, 1982-1987). The tournament was contested in 1877 and played on outdoor grass courts. Basically, women’s Singles was started in 1884.

It has been chronologically the 3rd of the 4 Grand Slam open tournaments of the tennis season since 1987. The game was not held from 1940 to 1945 because of the 2nd World War and from 1915 to 1918 because of First World War. Australian Open men’s and women’s and US Open were not held because of World War 1 and 2nd World War.
