He won the Price Cutter Charity Championship route to progressing to the PGA Tour for the 2016–17 season in August 2016.
Hughes finished 10th at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, at The Players Championship, and 13th seed at the Dell Technologies Championship in 2017.
