Rahm played his first World Golf Championships event at the WGC-Mexico Championship where he shot rounds of 67-70-67-68 to complete T3, two strokes behind winner Dustin Johnson on 2 March 2017.
He debuted as the No. 21-seed in the field of 64 and went 3−0 in round-robin play, by defeating Kevin Chappell 3 and 2, Shane Lowry 2 and 1, and countryman Sergio García 6 & 4 in 2017 in the event of the WGC-Dell Technologies match.
