In this women’s World Cup, overall seven women cricket teams participated. These teams are- England, Australia, New Zealand, International XI, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, and Young England.

This tournament was held in a round format system. So that, each cricket team can play with the other cricket teams. In this system, whose cricket team achieved the most points they received the honor of “Women’s World Cup”.

Overview of Women’s first cricket World Cup

In 20 June 1973, the first match was held in Kew Green Stadium, London, against Jamaica and New Zealand. This game was not finished because of the rain. Young England women’s cricket team was played six games and they won one game against International XI women’s cricket team. The young England team was achieved four points. Jamaica women’s cricket team was played a total of six matches and they were attained five points. This team won only one match against England by twenty-three runs.

Trinidad and Tobago team won two games against Jamaica and Young England. In this tournament, they achieved eight points.

International XI cricket team was attained 13 points in six matches and they won 3 matches.

New Zealand women’s cricket team won 3 games and this team was scored thirteen points.

In this tournament, the Australian women’s team was attained second place. This team won a total of four games and they attained seventeen points.

England women’s cricket team was played a total of six matches and they won five games. In this World Cup, the England women team was achieved twenty points among of twenty-four points. Thus, England women’s cricket team won the first World Cup or “1973 Women’s Cricket World Cup”.
