Ohtani made his debut in the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters’ season-inaugural game, playing as a right fielder, on 29 March 2013.
Against the Eagles, Ohtani recorded the fastest pitch by a Japanese pitcher in an official game, in 2014 on 5 October.
Ohtani made the Best Nine as the PL’s top hurler. He ended third in MVP voting again, introduction behind Yanagita and Shogo Akiyama for the Pacific League MVP in 2015.
