He made his first career debut in the Grand Slam at the US Open 2011, losing to 25th seed Feliciano López in the 1st round and taking part in the Japan Open 2011.
In the French Open 2012, he faced world no.4 Andy Murray in 1st round, losing in straight sets.
Ito reached a quarterfinal match in the Kremlin Cup 2013 to scratch his career-high ranking and beat Konstantin Kravchuk and Roberto Bautista Agut. After, he lost to eventual winner Andreas Seppi.
