She beat the top seed and world No. 10 Caroline Wozniacki in the 1st round at the Malaysian Open 2013.
Wang competed in singles at the Summer Olympics 2016 but lost in the 1st round to two-time Grand Slam victor Svetlana Kuznetsova.
Then she reached the 4rth round in Indian Wells, beating former top-10 players Timea Bacsinszky and Kristina Mladenovic end route, earlier falling to world No. 1 Simona Halep.
Wang reached her first quarterfinal match of the 2018 season in Strasbourg, losing to top seed Ashleigh Barty.
