Anastasija Sevastova’s tennis career and news
She defeated the regnant French Open 2016 champion and world No. 3, Garbiñe Muguruza, as well as Australian Open semifinalist player Johanna Konta, in 2016.
Sevastova reached her 1st Grand Slam, defeating defensive champion and world No. 3, Sloane Stephens in 2018. She had a strong start to 2011, success round of 16 at the Australian Open 2011, losing there to world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki.
She reached the quarterfinal of the Kremlin Cup 2015 in Moscow, upsetting Karolína Plíšková in the 2nd round and lost to ultimate champion Svetlana Kuznetsova in October 2015.
Her most recognizable performance came at the US Open 2016, wherever she shocked Garbiñe Muguruza in the 2nd round. She won her 1st three rounds and defeated Maria Sharapova in the 4rth round, earlier losing to champion Sloane Stephens in a quarterfinal round.
