She began 2014 playing with Cara Black in the Apia International Sydney where they lost in the 1st round to Jarmila Gajdosova and Ajla Tomljanova.
Hingis and Mirza announced their mutual decision to split as a team in August 2016, citing their last few under-par performances.
She proclaimed she hoped to return to professional tennis in plenty of time for the Summer Olympics 2020 in late 2018.
She missed the first few tournaments of the 2018 season and including the Australian open 2018. Sania said the same injury would keep her out of competition for a further two months in early February 2018. In fact, all sports were off for the Covid-19 pandemic from February-20 to July-20 but, but then started tennis and other sports successfully. The team lost their first-round match at the Australian Open 2020 because of a calf injury suffered by her. Sania played in the Summer Olympics 2020 but lost to Ukraine.
Mirza announced her retirement on January 7, 2023, following her final tournament in February at the WTA Dubai Championships, where she and Anna Danilina lost to top seeds Storm Hunter and Barbora Krejčíková in three sets.
