Footballer Layun began his first professional career with Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz. On 27 September 2009, he made his Atalanta league debut in a 1-1 draw with Chievo in Verona. Besides, he was officially transferred to America club for the Clausura 2010 on 21 December 2009.
He scored the final penalty in the shoot-out with Cruz Azul in the Clausura final 2013, winning the first championship on 26 May 2013. Layun captained America to the league title following a 3-1 victory over Tigress UANL on 14 December 2014.
It was proclaimed that Layun would join Porto on a year-long deal with an option to buy for 6 million EUR on 31 August 2015. And he made his official debut in a 3-1 victory against FC Arouca, playing full times on 12 September 2015. He received his first Mexico national team debut by Coach Jose Manuel de la Torre after his performances with Club America in 2013. After, he has selected for the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2013 in the United States. Besides, Layun included in Mexico’s team 23’s man squad for the World Cup 2014 on 8 May. On 13 June, he made his World Cup against Cameroon football team.
