Ito’s table tennis career and news
It was proclaimed that she would be part of the Japanese national side at the Summer Olympics 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, in September 2015.
In November 2020, Ito won the bronze medal in the Women’s World Cup 2020, losing to Sun Yingsha, but beating Han Ying in the 3rd–4th place match.
Ito Mima and Jun Mizutani won the Mixed Doubles group at the Qatar Open 2020, beating Chinese pair Sun Yingsha, in March 2020.
After, she reached the finals of the Japan National Championships 2021 before losing to Kasumi Ishikawa 4-3, in 2021.
On 5th August 2021, Ito competed in the team event and made it to the final tournament against China.

Her teammates Hirano and Ishikawa won the first match in the opening doubles however their lead was soon wiped out later Chen Meng and Wang Manyu gained ground, vectoring 9–11, 11–6, 11–8, 11–7 on August 2021.
