He signed with the team receiving a reported signing bonus of $4 million, on 15 August 2007.

Moustakas was .352 hitting with homers 21 and 76 runs batted in AA Northwest Arkansas, as of 13 July 2010.

He was named the 2010 Texas League Player of the Year and on the same night, he set an Omaha Royals record with 3 home runs and 11 RBIs in one sport on 30 August 2010.

On 9 June 2011, Moustakas had his contract bought by Kansas City. He made his MLB debut the following night against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, going 1–3 with a walk and a run scored.

the Royals proclaimed they had signed Moustakas to a one-year contract for the 2012 season, on 18 February 2012.

He batted .233 with a .287 on-base percentage, 12 home runs, and 42 RBI, in 2013.

Moustakas was placed on the 15-day disabled tilt due to a fractured left thumb, on 7 May 2016.

He re-signed with the Royals for one year and $5.5 million on 10 March 2018, plus a mutual option for 2019.

Moustakas hit a walk-off single of NLDS Game 1 vs the Colorado Rockies, giving the Brewers a 3-2 win and a 1-0 series lead, on 4 October 2018.

After that, he re-signed with the Brewers team, inking a one-year, on 19 February 2019, $10 million contract with a mutual option for 2020.

On July 10, 2022, Moustakas hit his 200th career home run. On December 22, 2022, the Reds assigned Moustakas to the minors.
