On 4 August 2010, he was called up to the majors for the 1st time and made his baseball career debut against the Baltimore Orioles.
In 21 arrivals in his rookie year, Sale went 2–1 with a 1.93 ERA, 32 strikeouts, and 4 saves against the Cleveland Indians.
