The Padres traded him and right-handed starting pitchers Andrew Cashner and Kyung-Min Na on 6 January 2012.
Again, Rizzo excelled in the minor leagues, with a .342 batting average with 23 home runs and 62 RBIs since being recalled by the Cubs on 2012 on 26 June.
