He signed as a free agent with the Braves team in November 2018. Then, a successful year with the Braves team in 2019, he agreed to a 4-year contract with the Minnesota Twins on 14 January 2020.
Donaldson was named the American League Player of the Week for the second time in his baseball career on 1 June 2015.
