Fiona Ferro’s tennis career and news
She made her Grand Slam singles debut at the French Open 2014 later receiving a wild card, where she lost in the 1st round to the No. 16 seed Sabine Lisicki.
Ferro played her year-first and just her third career WTA Tour main-draw match after defeating two higher-ranked players Samantha Crawford and Maria in qualifying games, losing in the 1st round to Christina McHale.
She won the 1st Grand Slam singles of her career and picked up her first career victory over a player ranked at the French Open in 2018 when she defeated world No. 61, Carina Witthöft. After, Ferro lost to the No. 3 Garbiñe Muguruza in the 2nd round.
In July 2019, she won her first career WTA Tour singles in Lausanne, beating defending champion, Alizé Cornet.
She announced on her Instagram that Emmanuel Planque would henceforth be her new coach, on 18 December 2019.
Ferro won her 2nd WTA Tour, defeating Anett Kontaveit in the final of the Palermo Open 2020.
Then, she reached the semifinals of the ITF of Santa Fe in California, where she retired in the third set against Elvina Kalieva (6-4, 4-6, 0-3).
