Golfer Berger played college golf career at Florida State University in Tallahassee. In late 2013, he qualified for the Web.com Tour and played four championships.
In June 2016, Berger increased his first PGA Tour victory at the FedEx St. Jude Classic near Memphis, which moved him to 29th in the Official World Golf Ranking 2016 and earned $1.1 million USD.
At the U.S. Open 2018 at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, he shot a third-round 66, placing him in a 4-way tie for the lead with Dustin Johnson, defending champion Tony Finau and Brooks Koepka.
