You can’t talk of the IPL without mentioning Chris Gayle. The Caribbean batsman has scored an impressive 4800 runs in the Indian Premier League, making him the second-highest overseas run-getter. David Warner tops the list with 52254 runs.
Last season, the ‘Boss’ amassed 288 runs at an average of 99 in seven matches. That translates to a solid strike rate of about 137.14. In his T20 career, Gayle has had 59 Man of the Match awards to his name. On top of that, the big-hitter currently holds the fastest IPL hundred record and the highest individual score.
Chris Gayle Has Started The 2021 Season with a Bang
The season has just started, and Gayle is already making history. On Monday, the Punjab Kings (PBKS) were on the pitch to battle Rajasthan Royals (RR), and the Caribbean seems not yet tired of breaking records. The batsman set a new record by becoming the IPL player with the most sixes. Currently, he is at 351 Indian Premier League (IPL) sixes.
Before the opener match, the left-handed batsman had hit the 349 IPL sixes mark in just 131 IPL innings. PKBS lost the toss and batted first. Gayle came to bat in the No. 3 position after Mayank lost his wicket in the match’s third over.
During the match, the Caribbean scored 40 runs off 28 balls, including two sixes and four boundaries. He was later sent back by Riyan Parag (RR all-rounder) in the tenth over.
Gayle currently tops the list of the players with the most sixes in the premier league history. The batsman smashed a sixer to Stokes in the 8th over, reaching the new record of 350 sixes. Again, he hit yet another over-boundary, this time to Tewatia to reach 351 IPL sixes in his latest innings.

Leading this list is Chris Gayle (351), and he’s way ahead of the others by far. FYI, no other batsman has reached the 250 IPL sixes just yet.
In the second position is AB de Villiers, a South African cricketer who has managed to smash a whopping 237 IPL sixes.
MS Dhoni, the former India captain, comes in third. In his career, the wicket-keeper batsman has been able to smash 216 IPL sixes.
Close by is Rohit Sharma, who is still in the fight for most sizes in the IPL. Sharma has managed a total of 214 sixes.
To complete the list is Virat Kohli, the current India captain, with 201 IPL sixes.
These are the only players with 200 or more IPL sixes. However, the list is just about to get lengthier – 3 more active players have already hit the 195 IPL sixes mark.
