He won his first game pitching 6 innings of 1 hit baseball match against the Florida Marlins on 3 July 2009.
Morton was activated off the DL, on 13 June, 2013. After, Morton contracted a three-year deal to remain with the Pirates, with a club option for the 2017 season, on 11 December, 2013.
On 16 November 2016, he signed a two-year, $14 million USD contract with the Houston Astros team. Morton pitched 146 2⁄3 innings and 163 strikeouts.
And then, the Tampa Bay Rays signed Morton to a two-year, $30 million contract, On 21 December, 2018. He was awarded his 2nd consecutive All-Star games on June 30.
