Anna Kurnikova was born on June 7, 1981, in Moscow.

It was discovered when she was nine years old by Nick Bolletieri, the coach who sponsored Monica Seles and Andre Agassi. Kournikova moved with her mother to Florida, where she began training at the Bradenton school.

In 1996, she won her first two titles in the ITF women’s circuit, and in 1997 she was the second player in history to reach the Wimbledon semifinal when she debuted in this tournament and was ranked number 26 in the world.
