Boll signed a 3-year deal with Borussia Düsseldorf, the current championship record-holding team, in December 2006.
He won the European Championship doubles, singles, and in the team competition. Timo was an active guest player in the Chinese Super League, in 2007.
After Boll lost in the last 16 to Adrian Crisan the German team won the bronze medal in the men’s event, at the Summer Olympics 2012, losing to China in the semifinals but beating Hong Kong in the bronze medal conclusive match.
