A team of four can come together to participate in this exciting race. If they want to go solo, they can also participate independently or with one other person.

History of Aquathlon

Aquathlon is a race that combines elements of swimming, running, and biking. This unique combination of activities allows participants to experience what it’s like to be a triathlete. The first Aquathlon was held in San Diego in 2013. The modern roots of sports can be tract to the races in the 1950s in Australia.

Since then, it has grown to become the biggest triathlon in the world. It has more than 20,000 participants from all over the world. It is held at the same time as the Full Marathon. This is the “26.2” marathon.

The ITU World Championships have been held yearly since 1998.

Rules of Aquathlon

There is a 50-meter swimming section, a 40-meter run, and a 20-meter bike.

There are three different age groups.

Aquathon is open to all ages, from age 6 to 80+.

Record

The world record for Aquathlon was set in 2018 by Hungarian athlete István Kovács at 1:55:33. Hungarian swimmer Balázs Kiss held the previous record at 1:55:43 (2017).

Equipment of Aquathlon

The swim section has two parallel lanes. The swimmer’s lane is 50 meters long, while the bike lane is 40 meters long.

The runner’s lane is 40 meters long.

The swimmer has to swim 50 meters after the bike.

After the bike, the swimmer has to run 40 meters. The swimmer has to start the race with a cap on.

There is a timing system in the swimming section. The swimmer has to reach the finish line at a time of 1:16:40 or less.

The time trial at the 2017 European Aquathlon Championship was held at the Ferenc Liszt Budapest National Sports Center.

The sport is directed by International Triathlon Union who classifies the world Championships every year.
